One month ago I found one product that claims to enable your airtag to have 10 years of battery life without swapping the power source. I was intrigured and went to purchase the product. It is pretty painful to swap the battery that airtag provides, especially when you have multiple airtags. To make things worse, sometimes users may forgot to do the maintenance task, making it harder to find the airtag with a dead battery.
Elevation Lab designs this airtag case called Time Capsule that allows airtag to use a AA battery, it recommends the Energizer Lithum Battery for max performance. I bought this product for 40 USD with 4 pieces, typically 1 piece worths 20 USD.
I bought the 4 pieces combo in December 24 and it took them 1 month to ship, although they said there’s a shortage of the product and I was aware of that when purchasing the product. I had a very high hope for this product and thought that it would handle all the problems.

The package is not very fancy, it is just a plastic bag with some sort of design, featuring the time capsule form factor. There are some additional info about the company and where it is made of.

There are 5 small bags once the package is removed, 4 of them are the time capsules and another bag contains screws and a screwdriver, this is a standard design for airtag cases.

A manual is also provided with some instructions on how to use the product, I think it would be helpful for some people, so I took a picture. Based on the manual, it is pretty straightforward for the installation.

This image shows the case with 4 screws and 1 screw drier, there’s a logo of the company shown at the front side.

This is what actually it looks like inside the time capsule, the main design is that there’s a contact mimicking the R2032 battery, one the left side, slots for AA batteries are provided. The top shell allows the airtag with back door removed to be securely mounted.

The Energizer AA Ultimate Lithium is recommended from Elevation Lab, as this kind of battery could last longer.

So just place the airtag on the time capsule housing with AA batteries installed. You don’t need to screw the airtag onto the case, just to place it on gentaly. Once everything is placed, the backdoor of time capsule could be placed on top, then just use the screws to bind the 2 parts.
Conclusion
From my recent experience, I’m pretty happy with it because I don’t need to worry about battery life for a long time. I need to mention that the form factor is quite bulky, so it is not suitable for keychains. It could be placed inside backpacks, cars etc. I’m not sure about if it can be luggages when travelling on air. Overall I’m sure that it is a pretty good design with reasonable price.
I cannot believe this is the first blog for 2025 as now is February already. I’ll keep updating the site as I promised to.
